Water bill debt over $ 11,000 puts church in Pilsen in jeopardy

Due to the debt of a water bill of more than 11,000, the Lutheran church of the Pilsen neighborhood is in danger of continuing to offer its community services to the homeless for food.

Twice a week, the Rev. César Sifuentes at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, located at 2108 W. 21st St. with the annual winter coat drive, offers a dining room.

Due to their water debt, they are in danger of stopping their help.

Many people in the city are in the same debt conditions so it is not just an isolated issue. This due to a lack of water meter and billing malfunction.
