Social media extortion targeting Chicago teens ages 14-17, FBI warns

Chicago parents are being warned by the FBI about extortion of children on social networks and platform games in which they force young people to send sexual photos and videos of themselves posing as girls and young people.
 
The victims are being extorted from publishing these images in exchange for money. The authorities reported that this is happening all over the country.
 
After demanding sexual content from his victim, he requires them to send him money through mobile payment apps in amounts as small as $50 and as large as thousands of dollars.
 
The amount varies from 50 dlls to thousands, once the images are sent through mobile payment applications, the age range of the extorted minors is between 14 and 17 years old, so they must be very aware of the social networks and platforms that their children are online.
