Putin’s Victory Day speech defending the war on Ukraine

"Today you are defending what your grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought for" were the words of Vladimir Putin's speech as the annual Victory Day parade took place in Moscow. "Our duty is to do everything possible so that the horror of a global war does not happen again."
Likewise, he added that intervention in Ukraine was necessary because the West was creating threats along its borders and were preparing to invade its land.
He added that Russia's proposals for dialogue did not want to be heard by the West. "NATO countries did not want to listen to us," Putin said. And he added that that means "they had very different plans and we could see it," he said.
Therefore, "Russia exercised a preventive rejection of the aggression, it was a forced and sovereign decision."
