Monkeypox is a public health emergency in Illinois

Illinois has so far confirmed 520 cases of monkeypox, then the 3rd highest number in the United States, so Governor J.B. Pritzker last Monday declared a public health emergency.

With this declaration, the Illinois Department of Public Health can coordinate with state agencies along with the federal government to distribute vaccines to prevent disease and infection.

Even with low supplies and 330 reported cases of monkeypox in Chicago, they continue to focus on vaccinating those most at risk of infection.
