Chicago, along with the rest of Illinois, will begin its full reopening Phase 5 on June 11, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Thursday. He wrote in a tweet that "Because we have effectively used the mask, practiced healthy physical distance and have been vaccinated, we will enter Phase 5 on Friday, June 11, together with the state. This means that Chicago is scheduled to reopen completely ”. During the Bridge Phase, Governor J.B. Pritzker had announced last month that this was a transition period for the full reopening of the state to Phase 5 which would arrive on June 11. State officials indicated that once entering Phase 5, it eliminates each and every limit and restriction of capacity in sectors of the economy, such as businesses, schools, recreation, etc., this with the new sanitary guidelines and security procedures. Large events, conventions and festivals can be held again.
