This Sunday, Mexico had the largest elections in its history, due to the fact that more than 93 million voters participated nationwide, having a 52.5% turnout. The INE announced that it hopes that Morena's two main rivals will have the majority of votes in their delegations. Results are preliminary and final results are expected next week. Lopez Obrador was elected last 2018, this with his campaign to address the violence and corruption plagued in previous years in Mexico. A wave of violence marred electoral day in the previous months, since around 100 politicians were assassinated, of which 35 victims were candidates for public office.
