If you are off work because of work-related injury, the insurance company may hire an investigator to video you. This is legal, but there are limits to what an insurance company investigator may do.
In our Section on Insurance Company Video Surveillance, we discuss what you should do if you believe you are being following by an Insurance Company Investigator.
You should always remember to listen to your doctors. Do not do anything that is outside of any restrictions your doctor prescribed. Most importantly, if your doctor restricts you from driving then you should not drive. Everyone is at risk of video surveillance. Of course, we do not want you to be paranoid that the insurance company is watching you, but rather you should be alert to the possibility. Your physical recovery and your financial recovery depend on you following your doctors’ orders. If you have any questions, give us a call. We have experience in dealing with insurance company video surveillance. We are Workers’ Compensation Attorneys for the entire state of Illinois, including Cook County, Lake County, Will County, Kane County, and DuPage County.
